About the Burpham to Guildford Active Travel Scheme

The Burpham to Guildford Active Travel Scheme covers a 3 kilometre (1.86 mile) stretch of the A3100 London Road, from Burpham to Guildford - also known as the London Road corridor.

Surrey County Council are keen to provide residents with resources to explore the scheme as well as to understand what will happen to achieve the planned active travel upgrades. These resources include the Surrey County Council's own information portal, as well as additional information, detailed plans, and simulated 'fly throughs' of what travel will be like using the scheme.

The benefits of these upgrades include:

  • safer and more accessible roads for children, pedestrians and cyclists,
  • improvement of connections between Burpham and Guildford,
  • a reduction in carbon emissions,
  • improvement of life in the Burpham and Guildford areas by facilitating clean air, healthy lifestyles and less dominance of traffic on communities.

The scheme's route is arranged around three sections, Section No. 1 commences from the roundabout junction between New Inn Lane and London Road (in Burpham) and ends at the Boxgrove roundabout. Section No. 2 is centred around the Boxgrove roundabout. Section No. 3 commences from the Boxgrove Roundabout and ends at the crossroads junction between the A3100 London Road and the A246 York Road (in Guildford).

The scheme's three sections - and links to their designs and time management plans - are outlined in our interactive map on this site's home page.
